Translations for Australian visas: what a translator outside Australia provides

NAATI is often presented as mandatory. For a translator working in Europe, Home Affairs asks for something else.

A translator’s tool: scan → precise translation in the original layout. Clients, signature and fee stay yours Try free — 5 pages

The rule

Home Affairs asks applicants to submit English translations of all documents in other languages. Then it distinguishes:

  • Translator in Australia: include their NAATI practitioner number.
  • Translator outside Australia: provide their full name, address, phone number and qualifications in the language they are translating from.

So a translator in Poland, Germany or Spain is not expected to hold a NAATI credential under this rule — but the qualification in the source language has to be stated.

Where Lingverra saves time

Lingverra produces a precise translation in the layout of the original, reads handwritten entries, transliterates names as in the passport and flags uncertain passages. The certification statement is already under the translation, with the date, and it says what you actually translated from: the original, a certified copy, a copy or a scan. Your name and contact details print under the signature from your profile. You can rewrite the statement once in the profile or for a single document. Checking and signing remain your job.
